Thermal receipts, on the other hand, are more cost effective than other types of receipts.  Thermal printing (or direct thermal printing) creates a printed image by selectively heating thermal paper as it passes through the thermal print head. The heat-sensitive paper's coating turns black where it is heated, resulting in the desired image.
